*** DemoTerm.DOC ***
This is the DOC-file for "SkyPix DemoTerm", a minimal terminal program
whose sole purpose in life is to demonstrate the very powerful graphic
abilities of the "SkyPix" protocol. So far, the only BBS program to use
this protocol is the "Atredes" BBS package for the Amiga, available from
Incognito Software, Inc.
With this terminal, you can view the "SkyPix" pictures and read and
enter messages into the message bases - that's about it. A newer demo
terminal (with XModem up/downloads) will be made available, but not for a
little while yet. A commercial terminal ("ATREDES Terminal") is due before
mid-February (sooner, we hope). There will be other shareware/PD terminals
using the SkyPix protocol out soon.
Here are a few usage notes:
1) "Clean Font" is a public-domain font which is provided in this
ARChive, with its own doc-file and execute script (Read.Me &
Install-Font). It is used by DemoTerm, so it should be in your
FONTS: directory. SkyPix is capable of using ANY WorkBench
font, and many SkyPix drawings DO, so try to have ALL the
WorkBench fonts available in FONTS:
2) Most BBSs that support SkyPix run at 1200-2400 baud. Many won't
even let you LOG ON at 300 baud (it's too slow for SkyPix,
anyway). At 9600 baud the terminal will limit the number of
colors (bit-planes) available so that the Amiga can deal with
the data transfer rate (this may improve with future releases of
the BBS program). 2400 baud is the optimum speed at present.
Always use the "BAUD" menu to select the baud rate.
3) You have to directly enter the phone number of the system that
you are calling in the terminal window. For Hayes-compatible
modems, this is how it would look:
TONE: ATDT3134622186 -- PULSE: ATDP3134622186
depending on whether you have "tone" or "pulse" dialing.

Your best bet is to call the "Command Line BBS" in Toronto, at (416)
588-7922. It is available at 1200/2400 baud, 24 hrs, 7 days a week, and has
several SKY.PIX demos online. You may also call the "Atredes BBS", our BBS
number is shown above and listed below. Our board provides a list of
other BBSs using ATREDES, and there are more to come!
Tips on dealing with this archive:
I almost always de-ARC a file to a directory within RAM. Wherever you
have de-ARCed this file to, be sure to "CD" to that directory (this
directory?) to make "Execute.Me" work correctly. The user can then copy the
files s/he wants to wherever they are wanted.

Incognito offers what we hope is some of the best support for our
customers available from ANY software company - and it is MY job to keep it
that way. Thank you for your interest!
